Singers with Acid Reflux

Many singers struggle with acid reflux and don't necessarily connect it to vocal health issues. Acid reflux can leave vocal folds feeling irritated, raw, and swollen. It can cause coughing and hoarseness. If a singer experiences GERD or acid reflux it is helpful to figure out how to adapt to maintain good vocal health. The good news is that there are ways to naturally help avoid acid reflux. The best suggestion is to adjust one's diet to help lessen the occurrence.

Foods to avoid:

Dairy

Caffeine

Fried/Greasy foods

Acidic foods like tomatoes, citrus fruit, berries, etc

Spicy foods

Chocolate

Avoiding these prior to singing can help make sure you arent singing with irritated/enflamed vocal folds.
