Structure Your Practice Sessions

Practice, practice, practice. It's true that it practice is key to improving as a musician. However, how we practice is just as important. I always tell my students that we want to practice like we work: smart, not hard. Singers need to be extra thoughtful about how we structure our practice sessions. We have limits to how long we can practice and need to avoid over singing and vocal fatigue. With my students, we work on structuring our practice sessions to get the best use of our time without over working our voices. I recommend writing out a Practice To-Do List like the one below. This can help immensley in making practice sessions more productive and less daunting.
